The hall Pendik paid for

Building began some twenty years before the doors opened and stopped more than once for lack of money. It was finished on joint investment: the Istanbul district of Pendik put in €350,000 and Novi Pazar €200,000 — and the partnership gave the hall its name. It opened on 29 April 2012, covering 3,200 square metres with about 1,500 seats; work on the east stand in 2017 added a hundred or so more.

What is played there

The hall takes volleyball, handball, basketball, five-a-side and boxing, and serves as a training base for school and club teams; in town it is most closely associated with volleyball. Every Ramadan it also hosts the city's five-a-side tournament, the biggest sporting gathering in Novi Pazar.

The first stop in town

The hall is useful to a visitor even when nothing is being played there: it houses the Novi Pazar tourist information centre, at Mitrovačka bb, telephone 020/338-030. Maps, current accommodation and restaurant listings and guide bookings for Stari Ras and Sopoćani are all arranged here.

The same building holds the youth office, the sports association and the communal police, and alongside the court there is a 150-square-metre gym and fitness room, a restaurant, a press room and parking for about ninety cars. Outdoor exercise machines stand in front.
